New Years Recipes

Although new year's recipes in Japan vary from region to region, typical ingredients in the traditional recipes symbolize happiness, a long life, fertility, good harvests, good health and so on. Japanese people can buy readymade osechi dishes at the grocery store or make their own. Some of the recipes are time-consuming to make and others are easier.
Famous osechi recipes include candied sardines, picked carrot with daikon radish, kelp rolls, rolled sweet omelet, chestnut and sweet potato mash, fish cakes and much more. Some foods have a white and red color scheme because these colors symbolize
